On this Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Church celebrates the privilege of our Mother Mary. The Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary into Heaven means that she entered the glory of heaven not only with her soul, but also with her body.
The Son of God was conceived in the pure womb of the Virgin Mary. So, it is only right that her body should also be glorified immediately after her earthly life ended.
Now the Blessed Virgin Mary is in heaven. She is the queen of heaven and earth. She is the Mother of the Church of Christ and the Queen of the Apostles. Every time the Blessed Virgin Mary asked Jesus to grant us His blessings and graces, Jesus listened to her request.
After being raised from the dead, we too can go to heaven with our bodies. If we now use our bodies to do good deeds, one day our bodies will obtain glory in heaven.
After the resurrection, our bodies will be perfect. They will no longer suffer from illness. They will not need food or drink to stay alive. They will be able to go everywhere without time or effort. They will be beautiful and wonderful!
Mary Ascended to Heaven with her soul and body is a dogma of faith (dogma = official teaching of the Church). This beautiful truth was declared by Pope Pius XII on November 1, 1950.
